This fine jewelry shop, celebrating 25 years of business, was previously called Ylang Ylang and is owned by the married couple Joanne and Charles Teichman, who opened their store in Dallas in 1985. The exquisite jewelry at Ylang 23 delivers fine workmanship and one-of-a-kind designs using quality metals and minerals. The number 23 which is part of the Ylang 23 name is reminiscent of the owners’ personal story: they met on the 23rd, were engaged on the 23rd and also married on the 23rd.

While Sid Mashburn has yet to set up his own official webstore you can buy the majority of his shop’s stock (sorry, no tailored gear) online via Taigan.  You need to register of course, but it’s free and if you don’t find yourself in Hotlanta all that often this may be your best chance to finally cop some of Sid’s lust worthy gear.  It’s actually more of an online proxy/webstore/3rd party liaison in that you pick the item you want and then request your size.

I’ve never ordered from Taigan, though that will change quite soon, so I’m not sure what the deal is when you want an item or size that isn’t in stock and the overall customer service in general.

Taigan’s Creative Director Julia Reed caught up with two of America’s top interior designers who shared their favorite design shops on Taigan.com, an online collection of specialty shops including names such as Digs, Hollyhock, Georgia Tapert Living, Revival, Haven and Niba Home.

Reed’s circle of interior design friends includes Jan Showers and Joe Nye, who have shared some of their favorite Taigan finds and summer trends.

Designer Jan Showers Finds Glamour on Taigan

Dallas decorator and designer Jan Showers is no stranger to great designs. She knows the secret to great style: “glamour is always necessary in a room. I am in love with certain unusual materials and their applications–parchment, leathers, Venetian glass, and always, glorious mirrors.”

Showers also knows a good thing when she sees it and found plenty of inspiration when browsing in the designer shops at Taigan. Pointing out Georgia Tapert Living, multi-colored silk Ikat pillows. “I’m crazy about the blues/yellows on white — so crisp and fun for summer in my living room,” said Showers.

Yet Showers’ eye goes beyond home designs, “The Gisèle Croc Bag – the color and quality are simply divine,” she said about the Susan van der Linde collection.

Just in time for summer, Showers found the best napkins for entertaining: “Kim Seybert white linen napkins with green bamboo. These are great for summer entertaining, especially al fresco. And I love anything with a bamboo motif,” she noted.
